Over the course of this 9-week course, you will create a branching scenario from start to finish. You’ll start with a business need or performance problem to solve. I’ll guide you through each step along the way, from planning and designing through writing, developing, and refining your branching scenario.

Each week, you’ll be invited to a 1-hour live session via Zoom. These sessions will include presentations, demos, activities, and time for questions. Can’t attend live? Each session will be recorded for you to review later.

Apply What you Learn

As you progress through the course, you’ll build your branching scenario step-by-step. The weekly activities are structured to help you immediately apply what you learn.

Community and Resources

When you enroll, you’ll be invited to join a private Slack community to share what you’re learning with your peers. The course includes additional resources such as templates, samples, reading material, and curated links. The community will continue after the course ends, giving you a place for sharing with peers.

Live Sessions

Live training Tuesdays 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM ET each week

Each week includes a live, virtual training session via Zoom. Plan to spend about 5 hours each week. That includes 1 hour to attend the live session or listen to the recording, plus time for completing activities and reviewing resources. It’s important to spend the time applying what you learn each week. Each activity builds on the previous ones until your branching scenario is complete.

How much does this course cost?

The course costs $995. You can pay either all at once or in two installments.

Who is this course for?

Instructional designers who want to create a branching scenario. The scenario could be for a current work project, or it could make a great portfolio sample.

Specifically, this is best for people who do a little bit of everything in their jobs, from analysis through development. This course is designed to walk you through the whole process from concept to delivery.

What if I don’t do any development in my work, only planning and writing?

This course will still be helpful since most of the focus is on those parts of the process. You don’t need any technical expertise to get started in Twine, the free tool used in this course. I’ll give you everything you need to create a functional branching scenario, even without any development skills. You can use that as is, without any fancy development or multimedia, or you can pass that along to your developers to enhance.

I’m a developer; I don’t write scenarios, I just want to learn to build them.

This course might not be the best fit for you. Much of the content will focus on planning and writing. However, I may create a future course focused just on development. If you’re interested in that, please let me know what tool you use most.

How long will I have access to the course? What if I can’t start right away?

You’ll have access to this course for as long as I offer it, including all future versions and updates. If you can’t start now, but would like to take advantage of the 50% discount, go ahead and enroll. You can review the recordings and complete all of the activities at your own pace later. Plus, everyone gets access to the private community, which will continue as a resource for sharing and peer feedback after the course ends.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes, if you complete all of the course activities, you will receive a certificate to document your accomplishment.
